This wikiHow teaches you how to start the monetization process on your YouTube channel, and link your AdSense account for payments, using an internet browser. Once you verify your account and accept YouTube's monetization terms, you can link your existing AdSense account in the Creator Studio for all advertisement revenues and payments. You can start your monetization process and link AdSense right away, but you will have to fulfill YouTube's minimum numbers of 4,000 watch hours and 1,000 subscribers before you can officially enable monetization.
-
1
Open YouTube in your internet browser. Type or paste https://www.youtube.com into the address bar, and press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.
-
2
Click your profile picture on the top-right. The thumbnail of your picture in the upper-right corner of the page will open a drop-down menu.
- If you're not automatically logged in to your channel, click the blue SIGN IN button on the top-right, and sign in.
-
3
Click the Your channel button on the menu. This is the top option on the drop-down menu. It will open your channel on a new page.
- If you see the Creator Studio button on the menu, you can just click this button, and open your Creator Studio dashboard.
-
4
Click the blue CREATOR STUDIO button on the top-right. This button is located next to the CUSTOMIZE CHANNEL button in the upper-right corner of your channel. It will open your dashboard.
-
5
Click CHANNEL on the left-menu. Once you're in the Creator Studio, click the CHANNEL tab on the navigation menu on the left-hand side.
-
6
Click the Enable button in the "Monetization" box. This will open the channel monetization steps on a new page.
- If it says "Ineligible" under the Monetization heading, you may need to verify your account and try again.
-
7
Click the blue START button. It's next to the first step under the "Apply for monetization" heading. This will open the "YouTube Partner Program Terms" in a new pop-up.
-
8
Check the first three boxes under the program terms. You will have to read through and agree to YouTube's partner terms in order to monetize your channel, and link AdSense.
- Optionally, you can also check the last box at the bottom, and receive personalized emails about your channel from YouTube.
-
9
Click the blue I accept button. It's located in the lower-right corner of the pop-up window. This will complete the first step of the monetization process.
- You can now proceed to linking your AdSense account to your YouTube channel.
-
1
Click the blue START button next to "Sign Up for AdSense. " After completing the first step of monetization, you'll be able to link your existing AdSense account or create a new one in the second step.
-
2
Click the Next button. When you see the "You will be redirected to AdSense..." message under the "Monetization" heading, click this button at the bottom to open AdSense.
-
3
Select the AdSense Google account you want to link. You'll be prompted to select a Google account to use for AdSense with this YouTube channel.

- If you select a Google account with no AdSense profile set up, you'll be redirected to create a new AdSense profile.
-
4
Click the blue LINK TO YOUTUBE button. This button is at the bottom of the AdSense page. This will link your AdSense account to your YouTube channel, and redirect you back to your Creator Studio.

Click the blue START button next to "Set monetization preferences. " After linking AdSense, you can continue with your channel monetization process on YouTube with the third step.
- This will open your monetization preferences in a pop-up window.
-
2
Make sure the "Monetize all existing and future videos" switch is On. The switch is blue when it's turned on. When this option is enabled, all your videos will be monetized, and bring ad revenue.
- If you turn this option off, none of your videos will be monetized unless you manually set a video for monetization. You will have to monetize each video individually on the VIDEO MANAGER page.
-
3
Check the box next to each ad format you want to use. The first option ("Display ads") is required for all channels, and you can enable/disable other ad formats here.
- Overlay ads will show an ad banner at the bottom of your video on desktop computers.

- Skippable video ads will show a skippable commercial before your video begins.

4
Click the blue SAVE button. It's in the lower-right corner of the pop-up. This will complete the third step of the monetization process, and redirect you back to the "Monetization" page.
-
5
Fulfill the watch hour and subscriber quota. Your channel monetization application will be officially reviewed by YouTube only after you fulfill the minimum watch hour and subscriber numbers. Your channel will need at least:
- 4,000 watch hours in the previous 12 months.
- 1,000 subscribers.
- You can track your progress in Step 4 on the "Monetization" page here.
- Your official channel review will begin when you fulfill the watch quota.

Question
Why won't YouTube allow me to link my AdSense account?
It could be that you are underage. If that's not the case, phone verification could also be your issue. Before adding ads to your video and making money off of videos, you need to turn in a lot of legal documents. If you haven't gone through that process yet, I will tell you that is 100% the reason why. If you are under 18, you will have to get your parents' permission to use AdSense.

How much time is required for approval?
It typically takes about a week.
-

-

How can I link one AdSense to multiple YouTube accounts?
Login on your different accounts, and do the same process over and over again.

Yes, it can go your bank account if you choose direct deposit. There is an option for receiving a check as well.
-
